The Stream
The stream, later the Cuttle Brook flows through the lower meadow and then out under the road. It meanders down to Temple Balsall and just past there joins the River Blythe. There are three local nature reserves on the Cuttle; Brook Meadow, Cuttle Pool, and Cuttle Brook Wood
When the weather is very wet, it overflows its banks and makes quite a flood.

The stream is full of invertebrate life, especially caddis fly larvae, and in the dry summer of 2018 we found quite a large signal crayfish.
Fish also have to contend with the stream drying up until there are just a few pools left with water in. Sticklebacks thrive, though, including the 10-spined stickleback.
