The side of the garden against the road is left semi-wild. There are box and spindle trees and the grass is full of spring flowers, some native, such as the dog violet, and some garden varieties.
New planting of Eucryphia x nymansensis 'Nymansay', a 15m tree with scented flowers in late summer that the bees like.
